Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 September 2026 · BeYourselfLabs
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how BeYourselfLabs (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with Persona, Persona Pro, and Persona Pro +, related websites, and documentation (together, the “Service”).
We never collect or transmit your source code, or Cursor authentication or credentials. Persona and Persona Pro keep configuration and project metadata on your machine. Persona Pro + may transmit account and usage information you enable for team features, as described below. We do not operate advertising analytics or tracking cookies for the Service. Anonymous product events for the extension (when editor telemetry is enabled) are described in section 3.
2. What we do not collect
Regardless of tier, we do not collect, transmit, or store on our servers:
- Source code, file contents, or workspace contents
- Cursor account authentication, session tokens, passwords, API keys, or other credentials
- Personal information beyond what you voluntarily give us to create or maintain an individual, team, or organisation account with beyourselflabs.com
- Advertising IDs or behavioural profiles for tracking or marketing (anonymous product events, when editor telemetry is enabled, are described in section 3 and are not used for advertising)
- Full email addresses from Cursor accounts (we may receive only the organisation domain after the @, as described below)
3. Persona and Persona Pro (local only)
Persona and Persona Pro may create and store the following on your local machine only, so the Software can work as intended:
- Persona configuration you provide (for example ids, display labels, and related settings)
- Project information such as local project paths and assignments of projects to personas
- Repository URLs (for example git remotes) associated with projects, when available on your machine
- Licence or trial state for Persona Pro, stored locally (and, where the editor provides it, in the editor’s secret storage on that machine)
- Optional usage estimates derived from Cursor data already present on your machine (for status bar and dashboard features), kept locally
Separately, Persona may send the email domain only (the portion after @ on the Cursor account email already stored on your machine) to beyourselflabs.com over an encrypted, integrity-protected request, so we can understand which organisations may be using the Software. Common free mailbox domains are not recorded. We do not send your full email address, source code, or Cursor credentials for this purpose.
When the editor’s telemetry setting is enabled, Persona may also send anonymous product events to beyourselflabs.com (for example extension install/update/reload, usage dashboard or window-cost opens, and turning Agents Window cost sync on or off). Events include a random install identifier stored only on your machine, whether you are on free, trial, or licensed Persona Pro, extension version, and basic environment labels (operating system and editor name). They do not include your email, device hashes used for licensing, source code, Cursor credentials, or Cursor usage/token payloads. If you turn off editor telemetry, these events are not sent.
Other local configuration for Persona and Persona Pro is not uploaded to beyourselflabs.com. Removing Persona or deleting its local data directories removes that stored configuration, subject to normal filesystem behaviour on your operating system.
4. Persona Pro + (accounts and usage sync)
Persona Pro + may collect information you voluntarily provide in order to manage and maintain an individual, team, or organisation account with beyourselflabs.com. That can include account and membership details you submit for that purpose (for example name, email, organisation name, or similar contact fields you choose to give us).
When you use Persona Pro + team features, we may transmit and store information about Cursor usage, tokens, and projects for a persona so teammates can share a ledger. That sync covers usage and project metadata for personas—not your source code, and not personal information beyond what you voluntarily provided to maintain your beyourselflabs.com account.
We use that information only to operate, secure, and support Persona Pro + accounts and team sync. We do not sell it or use it for advertising.
5. No advertising tracking and no cookies
We do not use cookies, pixel tags, fingerprinting, or similar tracking technologies on our documentation site or within Persona, Persona Pro, or Persona Pro + to track you across sites or sessions for advertising.
Our public website is static documentation. We do not run third-party advertising networks or social tracking pixels on these pages. Anonymous product events described in section 3 are first-party operational analytics for the Software only, and respect the editor’s telemetry setting. Account sessions for Persona Pro +, when available, are used only to authenticate and operate your account—not to track you elsewhere.
6. Third parties
Persona integrates with Cursor and may open or reference third-party services you already use (for example Open VSX for installation, or a git host when you click a repository link). Those services have their own privacy policies. We do not control how Cursor, Open VSX, or git hosts process your data.
Purchasing or redeeming a Persona Pro or Persona Pro + licence, or hosting Persona Pro + account services, may involve payment or infrastructure providers. We do not use those processes to harvest your source code or Cursor credentials.
7. Children
The Service is intended for adult professionals and developers. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
9. Contact
Questions about this Privacy Policy or Persona’s local data handling can be raised via the Persona GitHub repository.
